More Than a Hospitality School: Raising a New Generation of Kingdom Hospitality Leaders

Around the world, God is opening new doors through the marketplace. More than ever before, businesses, hotels, cafés, guesthouses, retreat centres, tourism, education and social enterprises are becoming places where people encounter the love of Christ.

Yet one question continues to challenge us:

Who will prepare the next generation to serve with both professional excellence and Kingdom purpose?

The suite of Hospitality programs is offered jointly between UofN Jeju and BAM International. One of the defining characteristics of the program is that it is not simply a hospitality qualification. Rather, it is a discipleship journey that integrates biblical foundations, professional excellence and Business as Mission into one learning experience.

Students learn the practical skills required to operate hospitality businesses and ministries, from accommodation, food service, café operations, customer experience to entrepreneurship and Business as Mission. At the same time, students are intentionally discipled in Christ-like character, prayer, worship and understanding their personal calling. Our goal is not simply to graduate skilled hospitality professionals, but to raise Kingdom leaders who bring the presence of Christ into every workplace and every sphere of society.

The Table: Where Lives Are Changed

Hospitality has always been at the heart of God’s Kingdom. Much of Jesus’ ministry revolved around the table. His first miracle was at a wedding feast by turning water into wine. He fed the 5,000 who were hungry, dined with tax collectors and sinners, and welcomed the outcast through shared meals. At the Last Supper, He established the New Covenant over bread and wine. After His resurrection, He prepared breakfast for His disciples by the sea before restoring Peter with the call, “Feed My sheep.” Time and again, hospitality plays a role as a setting for discipleship, restoration, revelation, and commissioning.

Hospitality is far more than serving food, making rooms or managing hotels. It is about creating spaces where people encounter God’s love, experience restoration and discover hope. This is why our program combines classroom learning with real-life ministry and industry experience. Students do not simply study hospitality. They live it through practical service, internships, mentoring and community life.

A Pioneering Step for University of the Nations Course

This hospitality program represents more than the launch of an Associate degree program. This is the first UofN pilot program to implement a new stackable academic pathway — it introduces a flexible progression from Professional Certificates, Diploma, to Associate Degree, and, in time, a Bachelor’s degree. Prior to this, there was no stackable Professional Certificate or Diploma offered. At the same time, this pathway has been intentionally designed to enable UofN education to be more accessible to Christians serving in the marketplace. Many professionals, business owners, and working adults are unable to commit to a traditional full-time program, yet desire to receive biblical, professional, and missional training.

This new pathway reflects a growing conviction that the marketplace is one of the strategic frontier mission fields of our generation. It provides opportunities for believers to be equipped for Kingdom influence without having to step away from their vocational calling.

Vision beyond Jeju

Our prayer is that what begins as a pilot in this Hospitality Management program here in Jeju will become a working model that inspires other Colleges and disciplines across the University of the Nations to develop similar pathways. By creating more accessible educational models without compromising UofN’s commitment to discipleship, biblical values, and mission, we hope to see many more believers equipped to serve faithfully among the seven spheres in the nations.

A Call to Build Together

To see this vision become reality, we are looking beyond recruiting students and staff. We are looking and praying for a team of people who sense God’s call to come serve and help pioneer and build this integrated Hospitality training program for the long term.

We are looking for individuals who carry a heart for discipleship, education, hospitality, Business as Mission and leadership development. Whether your experience is in hospitality operations, teaching, management, administration, marketing or student care, there may be a place for you on this journey.

Over the next five years, our goal is to build and mentor a team that will eventually carry and multiply this program for the nations. This is not simply about running a course. It is about raising people, building capacity, developing future leaders and creating new wineskins that engage the marketplace with the Gospel.
